Thinking errors that add to stress

Catastrophizing

Exaggerating how bad something is, and thinking that you can't possibly survive it.

All-or-none thinking

The belief that if you're not perfect, you're worthless. Find the middle ground.

Mind reading

Thinking you know what someone else is thinking or what their intentions are. Ask them. You could be wrong.

Probability overestimation

Believing something is going to happen when it's actually very unlikely.

Scoring: 10 or more points - you are at greater risk for having diabetes. If you scored 3 to 9 points, you are probably at low risk right now. Diabetes is more common among African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders. If you are a member of one of these ethnic groups, you need to pay special attention to this test - especially if you scored between 3 and 9 points.
